Module 5 · Trucks
Truck Allocation
Food-distributor-side workflow. Given school district orders from Module 1 and the food distributor fleet's per-truck capacity, allocate cases of commodity to specific trucks within each delivery quarter. The production system had this workflow partially built — the unfinished 6-Allocate Orders To Trucks.vbs script was a known scope gap on the original SCVdata engagement.
- Workspace
- Food distributor (allocation owner)
- Primary task
- Allocate school district orders to specific trucks within each quarterly delivery period, respecting capacity constraints and board-approved school district routing rules.
- Complexity hidden
- Cases-to-truck allocation across quarterly delivery periods, capacity constraints per truck, board-approved school district routing rules, and reconciliation against the upstream school district order data.
- In production
- Allocation logic coordinated delivery commitments across the 16+ food distributor relationship network; in California, Gold Star handled the majority of school district transactions, with US Foods, A&R/ASR, Sysco, Pierre, and Leabo coordinating regional allocations.
- Demo simplification
- One food distributor's quarterly allocation against school district orders. The production system's unfinished
6-Allocate Orders To Trucks.vbsscript is referenced as a known scope gap from the original engagement.
